Anti-SIR groups to organise Tiranga March at Townhall

Civil society groups in Bengaluru plan a Tiranga March from Town Hall to Freedom Park to protest SIR and defend voters’ rights.

Updated - October 22, 2026 08:25 pm IST - Bengaluru

Civil society groups will organise a Tiranga March in Bengaluru on Friday to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and demand for protection of right to vote of eligible voters.

The protest will begin at Town Hall at 4 p.m. and proceed to Freedom Park.

In recent days, hundreds of protesters have been detained and allegedly manhandled by the city police while attempting to organise marches or stage protests at the Town Hall.

Recently, the police denied permission for a Tiranga March planned by the All India Students’ Association, a day after allowing members of the Citizens for Justice and Peace to peacefully conduct a march at the Town Hall.
