CM launches scathing attack on BRS members for their behaviour in Assembly

CM A. Revanth Reddy criticizes BRS for disrupting Assembly proceedings, alleging fear of exposure over land misdeeds.

They wanted to obstruct proceedings out of fear of their misdeeds getting exposed, he alleged

Updated - September 16, 2026 07:33 pm IST - HYDERABAD

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a broadside at the main Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for obstructing the Monsoon session of the legislative assembly claiming that they conspired to stall the session out of the fear of their ‘misdeeds’ on land issues getting exposed.

The Chief Minister charged the BRS members with creating ruckus in the House as they were afraid that their acts of plundering government lands, failure to implement fee reimbursement and others would be exposed. In the process, the BRS members did not cooperate with Speaker G. Prasad Kumar who allowed them to speak even after hurling abuses at him.

The Chief Minister’s comments came in response to what he called their verbal abuse of the police, staging a semi-nude protest and even insulting the Speaker. The Speaker permitted them to attend the session anticipating the BRS legislators would apologise to the Chair and participate in the debate on people’s issues.

Instead, the BRS MLAs created ruckus in the house and the Speaker was forced to suspend them. “Respecting the Speaker is a tradition for the members. The Speaker is the one who protects the rights of every member in the House.”

Mr. Revanth Reddy clarified that the rules which the present government was implementing were formulated by the previous regime. The Speaker accordingly issued directives in line with the rules and the police stopped them from entering into the assembly premises. On the BRS’ claim that Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi entered the Parliament wearing a black T-shirt, he said Lok Sabha did not have any restrictions on wearing black T-shirts. “Had the Speaker Om Birla issued orders prohibiting entry wearing T-shirts bearing slogans, they would have complied,” he said.
