Sun Pictures on Monday (October 5) unveiled the trailer for superstar Rajinikanth’s most-anticipated action entertainer, Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson, the film is a sequel to his 2023 film.

At the end of the first Jailer film, Varman, just moments before his death, warned Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth) of severe consequences and that he would face the wrath of “the ones on top.” And in a truly exciting fashion, the new trailer shows that perhaps Varman wasn’t bluffing; a whole new battalion of enemies — played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, and Mithun Chakraborty — seem to be after Muthuvel.

However, none of them seems to know the real power of the 'jailer’ they are dealing with. At the end of the trailer, Muthuvel promises to turn his enemies to toast. And, as expected, Mohanlal’s Matthew, Shiva Rajkumar’s Narasimha and Jackie Shroff’s Kamdev return to help Muthuvel with his mission.

Jailer, Nelson’s first collaboration with Rajinikanth, was released on August 10, 2023. The film went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. While the new trailer shows glimpses of a few characters from the first film (like the ones played by Jaffer Sadiq and Yogi Babu), it remains unknown whether other actors (like Ramya Krishnan) are also returning in the sequel.
