A suspicious blast at an under-construction building in Pulakeshinagar left two people injured on Tuesday (October 20, 2026) evening, the police said. Home Minister Priyank Kharge urged people to refrain from believing rumours, as the cause of the blast remains unestablished.

The incident occurred on the fourth floor of an under-construction building on Jeremiah Road in Pulakeshinagar, East Bengaluru. Two men suffered minor injuries, with one of them losing a finger. Both have been shifted to Bowring Hospital.

According to a preliminary investigation, suspicious items were found in a bag at the scene and have been sent for forensic examination. The bag is believed to have been found by the injured men, who sustained injuries when they opened it.

Mr. Kharge said an investigation had been launched and that a clear picture would emerge by Wednesday (October 21, 2026) evening, once the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) gave its report.

“We are yet to ascertain whether the blast was caused by a chemical reaction or whether it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). As it is a blast, we will take up a suo motu investigation. No complaint has been filed,” he said.
