The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will launch its “Ward One” initiative across 43 wards in the city’s five municipal corporations on November 1. The initiative will bring multiple civic agencies together to take up cleanliness and infrastructure repair work.
Of the 43 wards identified, 12 are in the South City Corporation, 10 in the west, eight in the east, seven in the north, and six in the Central City Corporation.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed officials to coordinate with parastatals and agencies that are stakeholders, including Bescom, BWSSB, Metro, and traffic police, among others.
The drive will focus on clearing garbage, filling potholes, repairing damaged roads, and improving pedestrian crossings. The focus will be particularly on major junctions. The corporations have also been directed to clear overgrown vegetation and accumulated waste on railway and K-RIDE land.
Mr. Gowda instructed the five corporation commissioners to prepare action plans and deploy dedicated teams for smooth implementation. He directed officials to involve the residents and Resident Welfare Associations. He also called for action plans backed by dedicated budgetary allocations.
